Nina Red (a Riding Hood Warrior) has volunteered to venture into the forest and hunt down the big, bad wolf. Her efforts to prove herself a warrior go astray when she learns the darker reality of what is happening to the wolves, and the corruption of her father the King in his fight for immortality. When her body starts to transform into a wolf, she is forced to choose between her life as a human, or that of the wild animal.
‘Wolf, Woman’ is the reimagining of the classic tale of Red Riding Hood. Developed first in 2019, this one-woman production has seen two seasons in Melbourne with hugely positive feedback and two sell-out seasons. This original eco-theatre production creatively addresses the issues of climate change and the disappearance of our worlds wild places, whilst reconnecting to the primal truth and emotional expression of our animal body.
With incredible story-telling and infectious humour, Jem embodies 15 characters to explore true bravery, wild animals, and the depth of the human heart.
It’s as if ‘Women Who Run with the Wolves’ had an illegitimate love child with ‘Harry Potter,’ except the beasts are hairier and more badass.
