A big performer
In a small-medium sized body.
The daughter of a performer and a traveller, she got her start in theatre when her dad called her up on stage at age four to do a cartwheel. That quickly led to a love of the performing arts and before she graduated from university she was already in demand throughout Melbourne’s vibrant creative community as an actor.
A move to Hobart to study the Alexander Technique led to a step into the devising, teaching and improvisational circles. With skills as a singer, puppeteer, physical theatre performer, and actor, her growing connections in the community had allowed her to begin facilitating workshops in the performing arts for aspiring actors of all ages.
Jem now works with Hobart’s leading arts organisations including the Salamanca Arts Centre, MONA, Dark MoFo, Dark Fringe, and the Moonah Arts Centre, as well as writing and developing her own theatre productions.
